Donald Trump's awkward Valentine's post snubs Melania for top official

The White House sparked a stir on Valentine's Day after posting a message on X that noticeably skipped any mention of First Lady Melania Trump.

The official account shared a simple “Happy Valentine’s Day” along with a meme styled like a greeting card, showing President Trump and his close ally Tom Homan inside heart shapes. Homan, tapped by Trump in November 2024 as “border czar,” has been a key figure in the administration’s immigration efforts, and the two are known to share a strong working relationship.

The post followed Homan’s meeting with New York Mayor Eric Adams about Trump’s executive order giving ICE agents access to Rikers Island. During the meeting, Homan reportedly pushed Adams for full cooperation, warning: “If he doesn’t come through I’ll be back in New York City, and we won’t be sitting on the couch. I’ll be in his office, up his butt, saying, ‘Where the hell is the agreement we came to?’”

Social media reactions were a mix of amusement and satire. One X user quipped: “A box of pink hearts awaits you on the plane to your home country.” Others praised the humor, with comments like, “My favorite Valentine’s Day card!” and “When the White House X account posts stuff like this, you know America is back.”

While Trump’s followers found the post entertaining, it’s unclear how Melania felt. Public displays of affection between the couple have always been rare. In 2017, Trump did wish Melania a Happy Valentine’s Day on X, but such gestures have been the exception rather than the rule.

Comedian Jimmy Fallon even joked about Trump prioritizing his friendships over Valentine’s Day traditions, quipping that Melania asked, “Did you forget again?” and Trump replied, “Oh no, I got Elon something.”

Earlier this year, Elon Musk shared a dinner photo with Trump and Melania at Mar-a-Lago, captioned, “2026 is going to be amazing!” Musk, who had a falling out with Trump last year, has reportedly resumed political donations for the 2026 midterms.

This Valentine’s post, while humorous to many, highlights Trump’s unusual approach to public holidays mixing politics, personal alliances, and a touch of social media theatrics.
