There was a tabby-white English Springer Spaniel puppy who had been through something terrible. He had been abused so badly that 11 of his bones were broken.
When I first saw him, he couldn't even stand. I tried to feed him, but he couldn't eat. He was in too much pain. I sat down next to him, and even though he couldn't move, he rested his face in my hand. In that moment, it felt like he was saying, "Please don't leave me." He was begging for his life.
I took him to the vet right away. They told me he needed surgery — and it would be expensive.
People around me said, "Don't waste so much money. He's just a dog. You could buy many dogs for that amount."
But I didn't listen.
To me, he wasn't "just a dog." He was a life. Not trash to be thrown away.
I started saving. Tobby stayed at the vet, and the bills kept coming. I had some savings, but I took on a part-time job to earn more. Every single day, I visited him. I talked to him. I encouraged him. And I brought whatever money I could.
After three months, I finally saved enough.
Tobby was discharged. Slowly, he started moving again. Then standing. Then running.
Today, he is doing well. He runs around. He is happy. And he is with me.
I saved a life.
And that gave me more peace than anything else ever has. 🐾❤️
